Back Office : This refers to the Smartpay Back Office which is used to setup new customers and control subscriptions etc. No customers will ever have access to the Back Office but will be meaning the customer portal.
Customer Portal: This refers to the website a customer can go to and make changes to download to the till. This can be accessed by a customer from anywhere that they have a browser and internet connection – As long as they know their login details.
Point of Sale : The Point of Sale is the full system that would be installed at the customer site.
Till : This is the piece of hardware where the customer creates the sale, usually a tablet or touchscreen computer.
Cash Drawer: The Drawer which holds money. This will normally be connected to a printer. The printer gives the command to the Cash Drawer to open.
Customers may at times refer to the Cash Drawer as the till, as both are in the same area.
Server: The server is a mini PC. This will contain the database and additional software for the Point of Sale. It does not have to be in the same area as the till. Printers will generally be connected to the server via ethernet.
Receipt Printer: This is the printer that is used to print the customer receipt. A receipt printer is required for the Till to open the Cash Drawer even if the customer is not printing receipts.
Kitchen Printer: This is a printer used to print kitchen dockets (items that need to be prepared for a customer). Even though it is called a kitchen printer this could still be in other areas. I.E. Barista. A receipt printer can also be set to be a kitchen printer. In this case it will print both receipt and kitchen docket.
K.D.S or Kitchen Display System: This is a visual system used to display items that have to be prepared for a customer. These are often used as instead of kitchen printers.

Dot Matrix Printer: This is a printer normally used as a kitchen printer. Rather than using thermal printer the Dot Matrix uses a ink ribbon to create a docket. This is not affected by heat like the thermal, but does require the printer ribbon to be replaced regularly.

INTERNET: A WAN connection (wide area network). This is a connection provided by a modem, or a cellular connection.
STATIC IP ADDRESS: There are two types of Static IP Address. These can be internal or external IP addresses. An external IP address is provided by the internet service provider (ISP), and an internal static IP address is set within the modem router. Some technology can have a static IP assigned to the item itself e.g. Printer. When the printer is first turned on it will request the IP address that is set in it but this does not mean it will get the address if it is already in use. If the IP is set in the router then the address will always be assigned to that equipment. The easiest way to think of this is the external IP address is the street address for a block of flats. The internal IP address is the flat number you want to contact.
PLU : PLU stands for Price Look Up. This a unique number for an item. With in the White Label POS this term is interchangeable with the Article, or Item.

Lunch, Mains, Coffees etc. These will usually show as buttons on the right side of the White Label POS Till screen when making a sale.
Price: The amount being charged for a PLU or Item. Usually includes GST.
Scalable: The article can be sold by weight.
Weighted Barcode: These are special barcodes that are printed from a barcode Scale. The barcodes need to start with specific digits to shown that they are a weighted barcode (Zii terminology is a printed Barcode Label). To be recognized in the white label system they need to start as either 02 or 2.
